We are looking to appoint an Administrator to provide high level administrative support in all areas of Health, Safety and Facilities within the School of Cultures, Languages and Area Studies to cover a period of maternity leave. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our friendly, inclusive, and supportive team who are committed to the smooth and efficient running of the school.

Your role is varied, and you’ll be liaising with a wide range of people across the university as well as external visitors. You will support the Senior Administrator and act as a point of contact for H&S matters. You will also support the undertaking of risk assessments, H&S inductions and ensuring all school staff remain up to date with mandatory compliance training e.g. Fire Safety training. You will assist in the facilities projects such as office moves and renovations and be responsible for the schools asset inventory. You will work closely with the Senior Administrators to ensure the School Office runs smoothly and provide an effective, efficient, attractive and safe working environment for the benefit of staff, students and visitors.

You’ll be a flexible supportive team player who can work to tight deadlines and prioritise conflicting tasks. You will have experience in working with administration systems and procedures, and excellent IT skills. Attention to detail and excellent communication skills are key. You’ll be organised and have the ability to work under your own initiative and judgement. It would be advantageous to have an awareness of H&S principles, although this is not a necessity as full training will be provided.

This position is offered on a fixed-term maternity cover contract until 30 December 2023. Hours are full time (36.25 hours per week) however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. Job share arrangements may be considered. Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
